Welcome one and all to the 12th edition of my "Shameless Promotion" blog articles. In the past I've spoken about numerous films such as "Prevenge" and "Dead Awake" bands such as "Eighteen Visions", comic book projects like "Alex Automatic" and subscription crates like "Wrestle Crate UK". Whilst I love a lot of different things there hasn't been anything that has caught my attention in nearly a year until I stumbled upon the upcoming solo project by Mike Shinoda, "Post Traumatic".
Now I'm aware that Mike Shinoda is a very well known musician, performer and music producer and the fact that I'm trying to promote his new album might seem a little pointless but, I haven't continuously listened to a set of songs by one artist in a long time. If you've been living under a rock for the past couple of years you will be unaware of a lot of Shinoda's subject matter throughout the released music but, you can hear the catharsis as he addressees loss, anxiety, frustration and acceptance. I watched the video for "Crossing A Line" and I immediately fell down a rabbit hole, watching the same videos over and over. What struck me was the hand held style of music video that was used, acting almost as a video diary. As more music was released I became obsessed with each new song, especially "About You" and "Over Again". You can watch every video and some behind the scenes videos on Shinodas "Youtube" channel.
The album "Post Traumatic" will be released on June 15th and I cannot wait to hear the tracks that have yet to be released. There are collaborations by relatively unknown artists such as "blackbear" and "grandson" as well as Chino Moreno and "Machine Gun Kelly". I urge you to check out the album when it comes out but, in the mean time check out the videos on "Youtube" and buy the album anywhere you can buy or stream music.
