Welcome one and all to my preview and predictions blog for the upcoming WWE live special, Survivor Series. Before I begin I have also previewed the NXT: Takeover WarGames event that happens the night before so check that out. Survivor Series is and has always been my favourite of the annual events, throwing up some interesting and unusual combinations and matches and this year is no different. there have been some alterations to matches, we'll get to them later but, the brand warfare theme has remained and the card promises to be an exciting affair. As always there may be some changes and apart from the already announced pre show match I will be talking about the matches in no particular order.
1. Pre Show Match: Team RAW Tag Division Vs. Team Smackdown Live Tag Division: This match seems like a way in which to get a lot of the roster on to the event. This could be an interesting event that will be a great highlight of how good each shows tag team divisions really are. Teams like Sanity and Anderson and Gallows have been lost in the shuffle on Smackdown Live and likewise goes for The Revival and The B Team on RAW however, this could be a turning point for these teams and even, although less likely, The Colons and The Ascension might surprise everyone. This will more than likely be a fast paced match and in my opinion Team Smackdown Live will come out with the win.
2. WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Buddy Murphy (C) Vs. Mustafa Ali: I am really hoping that this match will be on the main card as the entire 205 Live really needs the exposure. Buddy Murphy has really undergone a career revival over the past year or so, finally finding his way in the Cruiserweight Division. Mustafa Ali is, in my opinion, one of the most under rated talents in the WWE at the moment. Both men have had stand out matches on 205 Live that have fallen under the radar. This match will be a great back and forth with the dominant Murphy coming out on top, perhaps with a little help from Tony Nese or even Cedric Alexander.
3. AOP Vs. The Bar: This match, on paper could be a very interesting mix of the veteran experience of The Bar and the youth of the AOP. I am strangely looking forward to seeing what both teams can do with the opportunity to prove why they are the top teams on their respective brand. There is no doubt that the outside factors of The Big Show and Darke Maverick will more than likely prove to not only a distraction but, more than likely, deciding the outcome of the match. I have an funny feeling that The Bar will more than likely come out with the win.
4. Team RAW Women's Division Vs. Team Smackdown Live Women's Division: This is the first match to feel the affects of injury. Charlotte Flair was originally supposed to captain Team Smackdown Live but, due to injury she is now facing off with Ronda Rousey and a spot on Team blue has opened up. There has been no announcement as of yet but, I think the most likely entrant would be Mandy Rose. Both shows have an incredible women's division with a varied level of talent and experience. After the events of Monday Night I think Nia Jax and Tamina will probably have a good showing in this match, maybe being the winners of the match but, I would love to see Sonya Deville or Asuka having a decent showing on Team Smackdown and Ember Moon proving why she needs to be in the Championship picture on RAW. I think that even with the X Factor Team Smackdown will come out with the win.
5. Seth Rollins Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura: This is the match I didn't realise I really needed to see until it was announced a month or so ago. Nakamura has had a little bit of a mediocre run as United States champion having on a few TV matches as of late. Seth Rollins is little bit of a similar story on RAW, not really defending the championship very much since winning it. This might be the match that steals the entire show with a lot of back and forth and some really physical action. I'm not too sure who will come out on top in this one but, I think it might be Nakamura.
6. Ronda Rousey Vs. Charlotte Flair: The second match that has been altered due to injury. The original match build between Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey had been one of the most entertaining story lines that have happened in a long while with a lot of smack talking on social media between the two. Then Nia Jax and her fists made a huge impact on Lynch and her face and we're left with Ronda Rousey taking on Charlotte Flair. This could be a great showing for Rousey as she and Flair have complimentary styles. This will be a decent enough match but, I'm left wandering what could have been. I think Rousey will come out on top and will leave me hoping for a Lynch Vs. Rousey match at Royal Rumble.
7. Team RAW Men's Division Vs. Team Smackdown Live Men's Division: There has been a lot of back and forth over the past few weeks as the teams for both brands established themselves with the final teams not being announced until the week before Survivor Series. Team RAW is being led by Baron Corbin, who isn't in the match, and features some amazing talent. The attention on Braun Strowman has seemed to diminish slightly but, the tension between he and Ziggler and McIntyre could prove to be detrimental to RAW. Likewise with Smackdown Live The Miz has been causing tension amongst his team that may cause Smackdown the victory. Samoa Joe and Shane McMahon are the real X factors for Smackdown Live and both could prove to be the deciding factors depending on their actions. I think this will be the match of the night and be entertaining. I think that Team Smackdown will come out on top.
8. Brock Lesnar Vs. Daniel Bryan: This match was only set this Tuesday and that's fine seen as Lesnar hardly appears on TV so no real story line was established. Daniel Bryan is on the verge of a heel turn so setting him against the biggest heel in WWE at the moment seems a little weird but, this match could prove to be a wrestling classic. Bryan has fashioned his career on being the little guy that over came the bigger opponent and this might be the case however, it doesn't look too likely. I think Lesnar will come out on top with the win but, with a little help from a very angry AJ Styles.
