NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4 Preview And Predictions

Welcome one and all to my preview and predictions blog for the upcoming live special on the "WWE Network", "NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4". As always if you have any comments to make on anything I've said leave a comment below or follow me on Twitter or Instagram.

As with most Takeover events the card is very minimal but, each match will be a great attraction match that could headline most events. There are a few notable absences namely now former NXT Champion, Aleister Black who is dealing with an injury. War Raiders, Nikki Cross, Kassius Ohno, Lars Sullivan and Keith Lee are also missing but, as I have mentioned the card is minimal and each match means something so a throw away singles match wouldn't be of benefit for any of the aforementioned talent. There are also huge rumours as to talent entering the NXT fray, namely Matt Riddle, who would be a fantastic addition to even a main roster show and is surely a top contender to do huge things if he does indeed make his way to the WWE. As always I will talk about these matches in no particular order.

1. The Velveteen Dream Vs. EC3: This match has all the potential to be a fantastic wrestling match between two of the more over the top characters in NXT. The build for this match has been highly entertaining, proving both men are not only great workers but, have the ability to pull off a huge character in a credible way. If you haven't watched the recent "summit" between EC3 and Velveteen Dream that was shown on this weeks episode of NXT you really need to go and watch it because, it was surreal to say the least. This will be a great back and forth match between these two. I'm not overly sure who will come out on top but, for sentimental reasons I think The Velveteen Dream will come out with the win.

2. NXT Womnen's Championship: Shayna Baszler (C) Vs. Kairi Sane: Shayna Baszler has been seemingly untouchable as Women's champion and has really run with the super heel character that hasn't really been seen in the women's division in NXT before. Kairi Sane has had a bit of a mediocre run in NXT since her win in the first Mae Young Classic last year. This should be an interesting match as both have very unique styles. This is the 3rd time in a year these two have met with both having a win over the other. I would like to see Kairi finally win the Women's Championship but, I don't really see that happening with Baszler really dominating over the competition.

3. NXT Tag Team Championship: The Undisputed Era (C) Vs. Moustache Mountain: This match has had a rather strange build over the past few weeks, with War Raiders becoming involved and I thought that perhaps this match may have been a triple threat. Moustache Mountain have really come a long way on NXT television in the past few months really putting themselves at the top of the list when the NXT UK brand begins in the next few months. Even thought there will likely be a tournament for the NXT UK Tag Team Championships, you have to believe that it would be a formality and the "Big Strong Bois" will be the deserving champions. The Undisputed Era are really dominating most aspects of NXT television and have become a really great heel faction that the audience love to hate. This should be a very hard hitting match with some great spots. I would suggest that both teams may have interference that will affect the outcome. I can't see another title change and so I see The Undisputed Era retaining.

4. NXT North American Championship: Adam Cole (C) Vs. Ricochet: These two are arguably the "hottest free agents" ever to walk into NXT. Adam Cole continues to cement his legacy in wrestling as the "next Shawn Michaels" and who could really argue that point. He is a heel character that all of the audience love to hate and he continually has fantastic matches that could easily headline a show. Ricochet really didn't need to go to the WWE to keep his profile high in wrestling however, he did and whilst some may see him not being a champion straight away, I feel that this build up and story line has proven how good Ricochet actually is. This will more than likely be the match of the night and have some great back and forth action. I'm not really sure about the outcome of the match however, it would make sense for Cole to retain and continue The Undisputed Era's domination of NXT.

5. NXT Championship Last Man Standing: Tommasso Ciampa (C) Vs. Johnny Gargano: Whilst I have loved the feud of Gargano and Ciampa I was really looking forward to seeing Aleister Black being added to the mix to add a bit of a different dimension to this story line however, some things weren't meant to be and instead we get another last man standing match between two men who have beaten each other to bits twice already. I'm not saying that this film won't be bad, it won't, I just feel that I've already seen this match twice already and wasn't in a rush to see it again. This should be as brutal, if not more, than the last encounter as the NXT Championship is now in the balance. Ciampa has become on of the best heel characters in recent memory and will probably take every short cut he can. Gargano has been on the verge of a heel turn for a number of weeks but, I can't really see it. I think Candice will help him see the error of his ways. I think through all of the brutality I think Ciampa will win and continue his march through NXT as the champion it needs right now.
