Welcome one and all to my preview and predictions blog for the upcoming WWE Network live special, Super Show-Down. This is the first time the WWE will broadcast a live special from Australia. As always if you have any thoughts or comments on anything I've written let me know by leaving a comment in the section at the bottom of this post of by following me on Twitter or Instagram. If wrestling isn't your thing maybe horror movies are, especially this October. Check out my blog post on horror movies I think you should check out this Halloween here.
As mentioned this is the first live special WWE will broadcast from Australia so it means for UK fans like me it will be broadcast at the more acceptable 10 AM start time. There has been no matches announced for the pre show as of writing but, that may change. As always I will be talking about the matches in no particular order.
1. Asuka And Naomi Vs. The Iconics: This could be a great match that will hopefully bring the focus back on to the other members of the blue brands women's division. Asuka has had a mixed bag over the past year or so, coming in with an undefeated streak that ended at Wrestlemania this year and hasn't really been in the spotlight since. Naomi has had a similar year to Asuka, lost in the shuffle and out of the title picture. The Iconics arrived on Smackdown Live with a lot of fan fair which ended quite quickly. With all that being said these four have it all to gain with a good showing, hopefully bringing a lot more attention. I have a funny feeling the home country Iconics will come out with the win by hook or crook.
2. Daniel Bryan Vs. The Miz: This match is to determine who will be the number one contender for the WWE championship after the Styles Vs. Joe match. This match is the latest in a great series between these two. and with the higher stakes this might be one of the better matches of the night. Bryan and Miz complement each others styles perfectly and this should be a great hard hitting match. the outcome of this match will set the long term future of the WWE Championship picture and at this point in time I can't see Miz getting that opportunity. I think Bryan will come out with the opportunity at the championship.
3. Bobby Lashley And John Cena Vs. Elias And Kevin Owens: This match is very little else than a reason to role out "Big Match John" out for a foreign market with the hopes of boosting Network subscriber numbers. That being said this could be the opportunity for the other three to boost their already interesting feud. Lashley has really come back into focus with the addition of Lio Rush as a hype man. Owens and Elias continue to be the over the top heels they are great at playing. This could be a great time filler with some interesting spots. I fully expect Super Cena and others to come out on top.
4. WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Cedric Alexander (C) Vs. Buddy Murphy: Finally a Cruiserweight championship match on a live special and it only took for the challenger to be a home town boy. As I have always said I am a huge proponent of the 205 Live division and hopefully this match will not only boost the show but, also bring these two amazing competitors to the forefront where they deserve to be. This match has been built well and should prove to be an exciting slug fest. Whilst Alexander has had a good run as champion I think this might be Murphy's time and become the juggernaut of 205 Live.
5. The Bellas And Ronda Rousey Vs. The Riott Squad: Like Cena being rolled out in the hopes of boosting numbers The Bellas have come back just in time to be included in the Evolution Live Special that will happen at the end of the month. This match has gotten a little bit of negative attention due to Brie Bella reportedly knocking out Liv Morgan a couple of weeks ago but, in wrestling accidents happen and thankfully Morgan seems to be OK. This could be a great match that will hopefully showcase Riott Squad and gain them attention as a force to be reckoned with. Rousey will more than likely be pushed to the forefront for this match and will more than likely come out with the win for her team.
6. Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship: The New Day (C) Vs. Sheamus and Cesaro: In my opinion this will be the reverse in fortunes for The Bar, who have been lost in the shuffle a little bit. New Day regained the tag team championships due to injury and whilst they have defended the championship there hasn't been any world changing matches. This match could change all of this. These teams have both had great matches in live specials that have really stolen the show and I think this might be a similar story. This should be a great hard hitting match. As much as I love New Day I would love to see Sheamus and Cesaro become champions.
7. The Shield Vs. Dolph Ziggler, Drew Mcintyre And Braun Strowman: I have said it before and I will say it again, who knew that Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre could be not only a great team but, champions in a very short amount of time. Add Braun Strowman to that mix and there is a basis for a very interesting stable. I fully expect huge things for this team in the near future. The Shield have returned but, something doesn't feel right this time. There seems to be tension amongst the Hounds Of Justice and Dolph Ziggler is planting the seeds of doubt in Dean Ambrose. I'm not a huge Shield fan but, I really like Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins on their own, Roman Reigns I'm largely indifferent to. This could be a great match, and under normal circumstances this would have been a main event calibre match. I think the unlikely trio of Ziggler, McIntyre and Strowman will come out with the win.
8. WWE Championship No DQ: AJ Styles (C) Vs. Samoa Joe: This looks like the culmination of one of the most entertaining feuds in recent memory and what better way to end it by beating the hell out of each other ? The previous two matches have ended in controversial fashion and hopefully this match will be a conclusive end to this feud, not in a bad way I just hope the next championship feud is between two competitors and not a three way feud. This match will be a brutal match with some hard to watch spots throughout. I have really enjoyed AJ Styles's run as champion, which is coming up for a year now but, I would love to see Samoa Joe have a run with the WWE Championship.
9. Smackdown Live Women's Championship: Becky Lynch (C) Vs. Charlotte Flair: This feud has developed into quite an interesting story line over the past few months. I really expected to see Charlotte Flair return to the heel role in this feud but, I am intrigued to see how a heel Becky Lynch will work out. This will be an interesting enough match that will further this feud into not only Evolution but, perhaps into Survivor Series. I can't see Lynch losing the championship any time soon so I think she will come out on top.
10. Last Time Ever: Triple H Vs. The Undertaker: I never realised how storied a pas these two have had until I was watching the recently added collection on the WWE Network. This is a very obvious way in boosting viewer numbers for the Network and establishing a better relationship with a sometime forgotten market. This will be an entertaining enough match that will cap off the night perfectly. I'm not expecting the match to reinvent the wheel but, I could be pleasantly surprised. I fully expect The Deadman to come out on top.
