NXT TakeOver: In Your House Preview And Predictions

Welcome one and all to my preview and predictions blog for the upcoming NXT TakeOver event In Your House. After the disappointment of this years Wrestlemania weekend TakeOver event being cancelled there is some consolation with this event. If you're old enough to remember the In Your House events (I remember watching the first) this was the dawning of the monthly Pay Per View for the WWE and saw some of the biggest matches of the pre Attitude Era. It is nice to see a little nostalgia in a strange time for us all. It will be interesting if the WWE bring back the old set from the original shows. As always I will be talking about the matches in no particular order.

If you have any comments or feedback on this or any other post leave a comment in the section below this post or by following me on Twitter and Instagram

1. NXT North American Championship: Keith Lee (C) Vs. Johnny Gargano: One of the most entertaining things to come out of the current format of NXT has to be the morphing of Johnny Gargano and Candice LaRae into heel characters which at the beginning seemed to be a near impossible feat but, now they have become entertaining and highly unlikable. Keith Lee has been a decent enough North American champion but, has been a little short on TV time as of late. This should be an interesting match as the two competitors have very different styles to match their massive size difference. Gargano will more than likely throw every under handed trick at Lee but, I think Lee will come out with the win, continuing this feud a little further.

2. Mia Yim, Tegan Nox And Shotzi Blackheart Vs. Candice LaRae, Dakota Kai And Raquel Gonzalez: This match will do a lot of things for a lot of the competitors in this match. These 6 are the top talent in the women's division that aren't in the main event picture and all are looking to increase their stock. The feud between Yim and LaRae continues to go from strength to strength after the feud between Nox and LaRae seems to have been pushed to the side. Kai and Gonzalez seem to have taken a dislike to up and coming Shotzi Blackheart and I will be interested to see how this one progresses. This should be a great match that will do nothing but good things for all involved. I would love to see a win for the good guys but, I think the team of LaRae, Kai and Gonzalez will cheat their way to a win.

3. Finn Balor Vs. Damian Priest: This may be the match that is the surprise match of the night. Finn Balor has gone through a lot of changes in the past few months since returning to NXT. He has fit into an almost anti hero roll as he has been wrestling mostly heels such as Priest and Cameron Grimes. Damian Priest is a weird kind of heel. Whilst he is a bad guy he's a heel you can't help but like. This should be a hard hitting match with the pairs styles complementing each other. This match could propel one or both into title contention and to be honest both deserve it. As much as I would love to see Damian Priest come out with the win I think it will be Balor that comes out on top.

4. Tommaso Ciampa Vs. Karrion Kross: I must admit I'm not overly familiar with Karrion Kross other than his short time in Lucha Underground. He has come into NXT in a fresh and unique way with an entrance that is as intense as his in ring style. Putting Kross into a match with Ciampa is a great way of not only displaying Kross's true talent but, also showing how great Ciampa is. This will be a hard hitting and intense match with a lot of great action. This should be a match of the year candidate for sure and I think Kross will come out on top but, this feud will continue on.

5. NXT Women's Championship: Charlotte Flair (C) Vs. Io Shirai Vs. Rhea Ripley: It is interesting to see Flair back in NXT and has been one of the names that has really helped usher NXT from developmental show to credible third brand. Rhea Ripley is looking to get herself back into title contention after a fantastic showing at Wrestlemania. the real X factor in this match is Io Shirai, a superstar that has had some great matches in her time on NXT but, has never really made it to the top. This should be a fantastic match with a lot of action that will be the wrestling fans main event. It's hard seeing past Flair in this match. She has elevated the NXT women's division to a level where it may be the best in the WWE but, I would love to see a Flair and Shirai feud happen so I think Io will come out with the win.

6: NXT Championship Backlot Brawl: Adam Cole (C) Vs. The Velveteen Dream: This match will be the match that everyone talks about after the show is done. I love the last chance ruling in this match as it makes the match feel more special. I think if Dream were to lose this match he may head over to RAW or Smackdown which I would be interested to see as he seems to have faced off against everyone on NXT. Adam Cole has become a gold standard for the black and yellow and brand and he deserves that accolade. This should be a theatrical match from start to finish that plays into both competitors wheel houses. I expect the rest of the Undisputed Era to be heavily involved throughout and perhaps be the deciding factor in this match. I think Cole will continue as champion and we might have seen the last match of The Velveteen Dream in NXT.
