WWE Worlds Collide 2020 Preview And Predictions

Welcome one and all to my preview and predictions blog for the upcoming WWE live special, Worlds Collide. I am back blogging again and I'm glad to have had a little break from everything after doing a solid year of blogging in 2019. Last year I watched and reviewed a new film each week in a blog entitled, The 52 In 52. Check out the wrap up blog where you can follow links to each review HERE.

As always if you have any comments or feedback on this or any of my blog posts, leave a comment in the section below or by following me on Twitter and Instagram.

This has to be one of the most anticipated shows for both brands and features a wealth of talent from both sides of the Atlantic. When this show was announced I was a little disappointed as I love NXT Takeover shows but, this is a fair compromise and promises to further the popularity for the NXT brand as a whole. There are 5 matches on the card so far and if any more are announced this week I will add them to this post.

1. NXT Cruiserweight Championship Fatal 4 Way: Angel Garza (C) Vs. Isaiah "Swerve" Scott Vs. Jordan Devlin Vs. Travis Banks: This match was one of the last matches to be announced and yet it is the match I am most looking forward to. Angel Garza has had a meteoric rise in his short time on NXT and has had some incredible matches including the one in which he became champion. Swerve is quickly becoming a main stay on WWE television and is really showing how great he is and how much he will be the future main event player. Jordan Devlin and Travis Banks are finally getting the world wide exposure both deserve. This should be an incredible match with a lot of fast paced, hard hitting action throughout. The smart money would be on Garza retaining but, I think all four will have a match that will have people talking. Personally I would love to see Jordan Devlin coming out as champion.

2. Ilja Dragunov Vs. Finn Balor: The match you never realised you needed until now. Finn Balor has gone through a reinvention and almost a restart to his WWE career in recent months and honestly it's more interesting than most of his run since returning from injury. Ilya Dragunov has really opened a lot of eyes since debuting on NXT UK. In recent months he has had some incredible matches, especially with Alexander Wolfe and Cesaro. This whole event is really about pushing both brands into the main stream but, I think NXT UK will benefit greatly from this event. Dragunov will quickly become a household name thanks to matches like this and Balor will further himself as the top heel in NXT. This should be a great hybrid brawl/technical match with both men knocking all sorts of lumps out of each other. I think Balor will come out with the win.

3. DIY Vs. Moustache Mountain: I get that there needs to be a way of squeezing all the top names onto the card so that nobody is disappointed but, this match seems a strange one. Ciampa and Gargano were at war with each other for such a long time it seems strange that the two were brought back together to face off against another team that seemingly went their own way. Both Tyler Bate and Trent Seven have had a decent enough singles run but, kind of need each other in NXT UK. This match should be decent enough but, will hardly capture the imagination and attention of the audience like the others will. DIY to come out with the win.

4. NXT Women's Championship: Rhea Ripley (C) Vs. Toni Storm: Storm is coming off a pretty bad run of things lately. Not only did she lose her championship rematch but, she seems to be getting left out in the cold in the NXT UK division. Rhea Ripley on the other hand has had the best month of her entire career. From a landmark first ever War Games match where she led her team to victory to knocking Shayna Baszler off and ending her near two year run at the top. This should be a great match with both competitors raising their stock. I think simply because she is on such a role Rhea Ripley will come out with the win but, I think this may be the downward spiral into a heel turn for Storm.

5. Imperium Vs. The Undisputed Era: This should be the highlight of the night. It's unusual to have two heel teams take on each other but, I think simply because of where the event is taking place The Undisputed Era will play the favourite. The Era got the upper hand on Imperium at the end of Takeover: Blackpool 2 and in part set up this blockbuster match that could be a match of the year candidate. Both teams are really the leaders of their respective brand and whilst there are no championships on the line the pride of their brand is really at stake. This should be a great match and really show each competitors strength if given the right amount of time. It's hard to pick a winner but, simply because NXT UK is still developing I think Imperium will come out with the win to pick NXT UK on the map.
