NXT Takeover:War Games Preview And Predictions

Welcome one and all to my preview and predictions blog for Saturdays "NXT Takeover:War Games" event. Before I begin I would like to encourage you to let me know what you think by leaving a comment below or by following me on social media.

The "War Games" event promises to be a fantastic event however, I'm a little disappointed to see the "WWE" UK Championship match isn't on the event and will instead be the main event on next weeks "NXT" TV show. With that being said the card itself is fantastic with something for everyone and arguably better than the "Survivor Series" card.

1.Kassius Ohno Vs. Lars Sullivan: This one could be the sleeper success of the whole event. Kassius Ohno has had sporadic appearances in "NXT" since his return a few months ago which is a little bit of a shame as he is one hell of a worker and could have been the figure head of the entire "NXT" roster. Lars Sullivan has really come out of nowhere, starting his "NXT" career as a monster jobber character with nothing really behind him. This match could go one of two ways, either it will be a slow, dull brawl between two big guys that usually goes on too long or it can be some hard hitting, fast paced action that will set the tone for the rest of the event. I think Sullivan may come out on top.

2.Aleister Black Vs. The Velveteen Dream: On paper this feud makes very little sense. Black is an indie star that could quite easily be a contender for the "NXT" championship and Dream is just starting out his career and is an over the top, flamboyant character more akin to the "Attitude Era". This is another match that could be the best match of the night. This proves the strength of the roster in "NXT" that the championship match isn't the focus of the event. This match, in my opinion, could really do great things for both men's career. This should be a great back and forth with a lot of under handedness on the part of the Velveteen Dream. I think Black will come out on top simply for the fact he is one my favourite "WWE" superstars at the moment.

3.NXT Women's Championship Fatal 4 Way: Ember Moon Vs. Nikki Cross Vs. Peyton Royce Vs. Kairi Sane: When Asuka got injured at the last "Takeover" event a lot of people were wondering who would be the next in line to be the "NXT" women's champion. "NXT" has an incredible mix of talent in the women's division and even though the match is a "Fatal 4 Way" it could have quite easily been a 10 way match. Each person in this match, apart from Sane, have had an opportunity at the "NXT" women's championship and came up short to Asuka. This will be an incredible match showcasing the talent in the division in a perfect way. I think that Ember Moon will come out with the win and kick start a new era for women's wrestling in "NXT"

4.NXT Championship: Drew McIntyre (C) Vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas: This match is a bizarre main event and probably the match I'm most underwhelmed by. That's not to say that both McIntyre and Almas are not deserving of a main event spot but, the build up for this event has focused more on "War Games" and the women's match that the build up for the "NXT" championship match has been under played. Almas has really become a great heel character with the addition of Zalena. McIntyre has risen really quickly to the top of "NXT" perhaps over taking some more deserving competitors. This should be an OK match but, I can't see a title change happening. McIntyre for the win.

5.War Games Match: Sanity (C) Vs. The Undisputed Era Vs. The Authors Of Pain And Roderick Strong: "War Games" is one of those mythical matches that has been proposed a many a fan over the years but, hasn't been seen in 1997. I'm really excited to see this match as I wasn't a huge "WCW" fan and have never witnessed a live or modern day "War Games" match. All of these teams are doing exciting things in "NXT". The "Undisputed Era" are arguably 3 of the best talents that "Ring Of Honor" had to offer. When they came over to "NXT" they brought with them so many dream matches that could happen. Sanity have developed for a random mish mash of a team to one of the top stables in "NXT" history. The weak link, in my opinion is the team of The Authors Of Pain and Roderick Strong. This should be nothing short of a spectacle match that will set "NXT" a part as one of the greatest eras of "WWE" I would love to see The Undisputed Era come out with the win but, just for the sheer chaotic nature of the match I think Sanity will come out on top.
