WWE Clash Of Champions 2019 Preview And Predictions

Welcome on and all to my preview and predictions blog for the upcoming WWE live special, Clash Of Champions. It is a strange old time in WWE with Smackdown Live moving to the Fox Sports Network and NXT making its move from the WWE Network to the USA Network. What does this mean for the WWE as a whole ? Does this mean that NXT will be a 3rd brand ? who knows but, one thing is for sure there will be a drastic change in the product soon.

As always I will be talking about the matches in no particular order. If you have any comments or feedback leave a comment in the section below the post or by following me on Twitter and Instagram.

1. WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Drew Gulak (C) Vs. Lince Dorado Vs. Humberto Carrillo: This match has been built in a really interesting way over the past few weeks on 205 Live, not that the show is promoted well or highlighted at all. These three competitors are a great example of the talent that is on that show. Drew Gulak is a refreshing change in the division, really displaying a light heavyweight style of grappling that could slow down the two high flyers in this match. Carrillo continues to rise through the ranks and really shows promise as one of the talents to watch in years to come. Dorado is the real wild card in this match, nobody really expects him to come out on top but, that could work to his advantage. This match will be hard hitting and high flying with a lot of outside factors. I  think we may see Gulak retain.

2. WWE United States Championship: AJ Styles (C) Vs. Cedric Alexander: I am so happy that Cedric Alexander is finally getting the attention that he deserves. He has broken out of the 205 Live mould and has had some great matches as of late. AJ Styles has made the jump back to hell over the past few months and this really displays how flexible he can be as a performer. This match will be a great display of talent outside of the Universal Championship picture. This will be another chance for Alexander to show off how he is part of the future of WWE. With that being said I think this feud may continue on so I think Styles will retain with a little help from his good brothers.

3. Roman Reigns Vs. Erick Rowan: What a weird little story line this has been but, it has been entertaining enough. Roman Reigns has been out of the championship picture for a little while but, that hasn't really taken any of the attention off of him. Erick Rowan looks like he's in line for another push, which I don't mind but, there are a few more talents that could maybe use the exposure more. This match will play out nicely but, I can't get excited for the match. I think this may lead to a feud between Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt with Rowan returning to the family.

4. WWE Woman's Tag Team Championship: Alexa Bliss And Nikki Cross (C) Vs. Mandy Rose And Sonya Deville: This match has only been announced recently and I think it was only put on the card as the women's tag team championship was the only championship not being defended. Bliss and Cross have gone from being a thrown together team to being quite entertaining in a short amount of time and it has shown a different side of both members of the team. Mandy rose and Sonya Deville are both on the verge of big things but, it never seems to happen, hopefully this match will change things. This should be a decent enough match and I think Bliss and Cross will retain.

5. WWE Intercontinental Championship: Shinsuke Nakamura (C) Vs. The Miz: Both Nakamura and The Miz have been flying under the radar recently especially Nakamura who really deserves a lot more attention as he is one of the best pro wrestlers in the world today. The Miz has entered a different stage in his career, with him become more of a talking head on TV rather than having matches. This will be a decent enough match that will hopefully kick start momentum for both. These two have very different styles but, are both great entertainers in the ring and hopefully this will provide a surprise match of the night. Nakamura to retain.

6. Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship: The New Day (C) Vs. The Revival: With the wild card rule still being enforced we've been left with one of the top teams on RAW competing for the Smackdown Live tag team championships. This match has been set up to compliment the Kingston Vs. Orton match and that could work well for all parties. This will be a great match as both teams are at the top of their games. This will be a great mix of fast paced action meets old school wrestling that is entertaining to watch. I think The Revival will come out as the new Top Guys of Smackdown Live.

7. Raw Tag Team Championship: Seth Rollins And Braun Strowman (C) Vs. Dolph Ziggler And Robert Roode: This is the first of two matches for both Rollins and Strowman on the card and for the first time in memory tag team champions will also face off against each other for another championship. The Raw tag team championship picture is a confusing place as of late with the division being dominated by thrown together teams with isn't really reflective of the teams they have at their disposal. This match will be decent enough if a little short to protect Rollins and Strowman for the later match. With that being said I think one of the two champions will cost the team the match with Roode and Ziggler becoming champions.

8. Raw Woman's Championship: Becky Lynch (C) Vs. Sasha Banks: I won't pretend to know what happened with Sasha Banks around Wrestlemania time but, for months afterwards she wasn't seen on WWE TV and rarely referred to. Since her return she has ruffled a few feathers and has slotted herself into the championship picture on RAW straight away. What can be said for Becky Lynch ? she seems to keep becoming more and more popular by the week and this match may bring a lot more eyes to not only the Raw brand but, the WWE in general. This will be a physical match with both having a lot to prove in this match. As much as I love Lynch I think there may be a change in this match with Banks rising to the top of the RAW brand leading to the rumoured draft that will take place soon.

9. WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston (C) Vs. Randy Orton: This feud has been just what both men needed and has really established Kingston as one of the top competitors on the brand. Orton on the other hand seems perplexed just to be involved and I don't know whether that he actually is or if he is just really good at acting that way. This should be a great match hopefully with a better ending than their Summerslam match. I'm torn in this match because whilst I've enjoyed Kingston as champion I think his time may have come but, I want to see anyone but, Orton as champion. I think Kingston may retain but, who knows.

10. Smackdown Live Women's Championship: Bayley (C) Vs. Charlotte Flair: Bayley has finally done the unthinkable and turned heel, or has she ? whilst she may have sided with Sasha Banks and wielded a couple of chairs she seems like the same old Bayley but, hopefully with this match we will see a double switch of character. Charlotte Flair, as much as the audience loves to hate her, is a great face given the chance. This will be a decent enough match but, I think with a little help from her friend Bayley may retain the Smackdown Live women's championship.

11. WWE Universal Championship: Seth Rollins (C) Vs. Braun Strowman: The second of two matches to feature these two and this will hopefully show why both Rollins and Strowman deserve to be at the top of the brand. This match will be a great match that will cap off a pretty great show. There will be the usual physicality from both men that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. I can't see this feud ending any time soon so I think for that reason Rollins will retain leading into a rematch inside Hell In A Cell.
