NXT UK Takeover: Cardiff Preview And Predictions

Welcome one and all to my preview and predictions blog for the upcoming NXT UK Takeover special that is set to take place this Saturday night.

As always if you have any comments or feedback leave a comment in the section below the post or by following me on Twitter and Instagram.

The NXT UK brand has been moving along at a decent pace since it's inception almost a year ago and this event is set to be another bumper night in the ever changing landscape of the WWE. All of the championships are being defended and there also promises to be a few surprises on the night too. As always I'll talk about the matches in no particular order.

1. Cesaro Vs. ???: The appearance of Cesaro in the NXT UK is big news as it will bring more eyes to the brand. There are numerous possibilities as to who he may face, if he faces anyone at all. Pete Dunne would be an interesting choice but, I feel he is done with the NXT UK division for now. Ilya Dragunov would be an unlikely choice but, I think it would be a pretty interesting match. I think the mostly likely choice will be someone Cesaro is very familiar with , Kassius Ohno. If that is the match that we see it will be a great way of showing off two of the most talented but, overlooked talents in the WWE today.

2. Travis Banks Vs. Noam Dar: Travis Banks, and Noam Dar to an extent, have flown under the radar over the last year or so. That's not to say that they haven't been around. Both men have been a little unlucky in the injury department but, they both seem to be turning their fortunes around. This should be a great match with a lot of striking and submission wrestling throughout. This type of match is I feel that the NXT UK show could really use a secondary championship like the North American Championship as both men are deserving of a championship match but, they don't factor into the UK Championship picture. I think that Dar will come out on top with more than a little bit of under handedness coming into play.

3. Last Man Standing: Dave Mastiff Vs. Joe Coffey: Two of the biggest men in the UK division come together to continue their physical rivalry. In their first match both men beat the hell out of each other and like the last match I feel that this rivalry could have been in use of a championship to give it a little more depth. The Last Man Standing rule adds a cool dynamic that works in the favour of Coffey as his Gallus team mates could get involved without any issue. This will be a slow paced match with a lot of physicality. Coffey hasn't really gotten himself back into championship contention as of late but, I think he may come out with the win and enter his name back into the conversation.

4. NXT UK Women's Championship: Toni Storm (C) Vs. Kay Lee Ray: The momentum behind Toni Storm seems to have slowed as of late, with Storm not having a lot of matches on TV in recent months. Kay Lee Ray has arrived in the UK division with a lot of fan fair and really has overtaken any of the other contenders that may have been in the queue. This match has had a great build and has been entertaining to watch. This should be a great back and forth match with both styles complementing each other. Kay Lee Ray has a great physicality in her style that will really highlight a different style in the women's division. I think Ray may come out with the win but, will continue her feud with Storm.

5. NXT UK Tag Team Championship: Grizzled Young Veterans (C) Vs. Gallus Vs. Mark Andrews And Flash Morgan Webster: The tag team division is still establishing itself however, there are some great tag teams and this match is proof of the diversity in the division. The Grizzled Young Veterans have been on a little bit of a roll since becoming the first champions and they are a more than deserving team. Mark Andrews And Flash Morgan Webster are a great team and really highlight their high flying abilities and the fact they should have teaming a long time ago. Gallus are the real dark horse team in this match but, they are smash mouth and really physical and could prove to be the real test in this match. I think this will be the match of the night, with a lot of high spots throughout. I can't see Grizzled Young Veterans losing any time soon as they are the top team.

6. WWE UK Championship: Walter (C) Vs. Tyler Bate: Walter has been dominant not only since his entrance to NXT UK but, since he ended the record breaking run of Pete Dunne. Tyler Bate is breaking out on his own after being part of a tag team for the past couple of years to varying success. This match has had a really great build with the formation of Imperium and the rivalry between Imperium and British Strong Style where Imperium really established dominance over the Big Strong Bois. Walter has really developed as a character since arriving in the WWE and he really has established himself as a top heel. This match will be filled with drama from start to finish with a lot of outside interference on both sides. I can't really see Walter losing any time soon so for that reason I think he will retain.
