NXT Takeover: New Orleans Preview And Predictions

Welcome one and all to my preview and predictions blog for the upcoming "NXT Takeover" live special that will take place in New Orleans this "Wrestlemania" weekend. As always if you have any feedback or comments leave them in the comment section below or by following me on "Twitter" or "Instagram".

This has to be one of the best "Takeover" events in a long while. There is some unfortunate news that Bobby Fish won't be defending his "NXT" tag team championship as he is out with an injury for at least 6 months. This is really bad news as "The Undisputed Era" were really hitting their stride as champions. At this moment it looks like Adam Cole will compete in his place. There are a few names missing from the card. Sanity are missing as well as the "Iconic Duo" which could mean all of these names will be heading up to "RAW" or "Smackdown". Kairi Sane is also missing which is strange as she is one of the top names on the women's roster. If there are any changes to matches I will update them over the week. As always I will be talking about the matches in no particular order.

1. NXT Tag Team Championship And Dusty Rhodes Classic Final: The Undisputed Era (C) Vs. The Authors Of Pain Vs. Pete Dunne And Roderick Strong: As previously mentioned Bobby Fish is injured and in his place is Adam Cole. Who knows what this will do for the ladder match later in the night. I doubt Adam Cole would be competing twice, especially as both matches will be physical match ups, although I have been wrong before. The team of Dunne and Strong were hastily thrown together due to Moustache Mountain being unable to compete in the "Dusty Rhodes Classic" and have proven to be a great team. The Authors Pain are a real dark horse in this years tournament. They haven't really been present since "Takeover: War Games" and I'm really surprised they made it to the finals. This should be a great match up with the potential to steal the show. There should be a lot of stiff shots and submissions being traded between the two smaller teams and some great feats of strength on show from AOP. I would love to see Dunne and Strong come out on top but, I have a funny feeling the AOP might come out on top with the win. I would love to see a confrontation between AOP and War Machine after all is said and done.

2. NXT Women's Championship: Ember Moon (C) Vs. Shayna Baszler: This has been a fantastic feud from the beginning. It's hard to believe that Baszler didn't win the "Mae young Classic" as she has been at the top of the women's roster now in her second championship match in as many months. Ember Moon has been a bit of mediocre champion, in my opinion. She has big shoes to fill after the historic reign of Asuka and has failed to live up to the challenge. That being said this should be a fantastic match, both women have a physical style. Baszler is a fantastic heel and could go a long way in the "WWE" and for that reason I think this is the time for her to become champion.

3. NXT North American Championship Ladder Match: Adam Cole Vs. EC3 Vs. Killian Dain Vs. Lars Sullivan Vs. Velveteen Dream Vs. Ricochet: I mentioned in my previous "NXT" post that I really felt the brand needed a secondary championship and no sooner had I finished that thought the "NXT" North American Championship was announced. This has to be one of the best mixes of talent I've seen in this type of match in a long while. There is the two wild card men in Killian Dain and Lars Sullivan who bring brute strength to a match often not associated with a ladder match. Velveteen Dream is a fantastic talent who is really shining through and could be the dark horse in this match. EC3 and Ricochet are debuting talent with it all to prove. Ricochet has the potential to be one of the biggest stars in not only "NXT" but, "WWE" in general. EC3 has proven that he needed to spread his wings and leave "WWE" to become one the best heel talents outside of the "WWE". Adam Cole has been a bit of a hit or miss since his arrival and has it all to prove. This will be a showstealer from start to finish. Expect some unbelievable highlights. I'm really not too sure who will come out on top. I would love to see Velveteen Dream being given the shot to shine and be the very first "NXT" North American Champion.

4. Johnny Gargano Vs. Tomasso Ciampa: This is the match that should have happened nearly a year ago and boy has it been worth the wait. Both Ciampa and Gargano have been unlucky due to injury. Gargano came back and had some great matches but, I felt, he was just waiting about to have one final encounter with his once tag team partner. I feel that this might be the final nights for both men in "NXT" and I really feel that they will pull out all the stops in this "Unsanctioned" match. Ciampa has the potential to be one of the top heels in the "WWE" and I really feel like this will be his "coming out" party in a way. This should be a brutal affair. As much as I would love to see Ciampa come out on top I think the plucky underdog will get the win on his way out of "NXT".

5. NXT Championship: Andrade "Cien" Almas (C) Vs. Alister Black: If there is an award for most improved superstar in "NXT" it would definitely go to Andrade "Cien" Almas. I was incredibly indifferent to him after a rather lacking debut. Partnering him with Zelena Vega has been a great move, she has added a lot of depth to his character and has brought out the best in him. Alister Black has had a pretty great run of things in "NXT" and could fill a CM Punk sized hole in the "WWE". The build up for this match has been a highlight of "NXT" television of late. This should be a great match to top off an unbelievable night of action. I would love to see Black pick up the win as I feel he would be a great leader of the "NXT" roster.
