Wrestlemania 29 Preview

Well it's that time of year again. As a life long wrestling fan I get excited every year to see what WWE is going to do with their flagship pay per view. This year the event takes place at Met Life Stadium in New York/New Jersey. Below are my thoughts on each match:

1. Intercontinental Championship Wade Barrett (C) Vs. The Miz. (Youtube Preshow Match)
First off I really can't understand how this match isn't on the card and how these two, Barrett in particular, are not on the card. This should be the usual time filler that will eventually appear on the extras when Wrestlemania comes out on DVD and Blu Ray. This should be a decent match, but don't expect to see the best of these two in the 10 minutes the match will last.

2. Tons Of Funk And The Funkadactyls Vs. Rhodes Scholars and The Bella Twins.
In my opinion this match should have been the preview show match. This match could go one of two ways. The first scenario is that it could be an out and out squash match with Clay and Tensai winning the match. The second scenario is that The Rhodes Scholars win and all is well with the world.

3. Chris Jericho Vs. Fandango.
This is a strange one. Chris Jericho, whilst not in the peak years of his career, is still one of the top guys in the WWE at this time. Fandango is a weird gimmick for a guy who is just ok. This match will probably be all Jericho with little more than a few attempts at a comeback from Fandango.

4. WWE Tag Team Championship Team Hell No (C) Vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E Langston.
I am a fan of all the competitors in this match. Team Hell No have proven that a team of such polar opposites can work well together. Ziggler and Langston have also proven the same thing since teaming together. This should be a decent match, expect a lot of power spots from Kane and Big E Langston. I really think that the titles will change hands.

5. Ryback vs. Mark Henry.
Two fat guys with lots of posing and a couple of impressive lifts. Thats all I am going to say

6. Randy Orton, Big Show And Sheamus Vs. The Shield
This is match essentially all of the guys that are main event players, but couldn't fit into the title matches. This should be a pretty good back and forth match. I really like the Shield I've even warmed to the very basic wrestling ability of Roman Reigns. Expect a heel turn from Randy Orton or The Big Show and The Shield to pick up the win.

7. World Heavyweight Title Alberto Del Rio (C) Vs. Jack Swagger.
This feud reminds me of the JBL/Eddie Guerrero storyline a few years ago with the boarder line racism. This match doesn't really excited me at all. While both men are great in the ring it seems like a match that would have been better for TV and not the flagship PPV. I don't expect a title change due to Swaggers recent real life run in with the law.

8. Triple H Vs. Brock Lesnar No Holds Barred.
This promises to be a decent match if the run ins on TV have been anything to go by. Expect to see a bit of a blood bath that WWE probably wouldn't put on TV due to it's non PG content. Also look out for Shawn Michaels and Paul Heyman to get involved, probably determining the result of the match.

9. Undertaker Vs. CM Punk.
This is the match I a most looking forward to watching. It's no secret that I am a huge fan of CM Punk and in my childhood I was a huge Undertaker fan. The story behind the match has been taken to a personal level with the inclusion of the recently deceased Paul Bearer being used in a controversial way. I don't expect Punk to end the streak, although a man can dream. Expect Taker to go 21-0 at Wrestlemania.

10. WWE Championship The Rock (C) Vs. John Cena
This match is no doubt going to be the main event of the night. I just can't be excited about it. I'm not a huge fan of John Cena and his new era Hulk Hogan, dull as ditch water good guy character. The Rock is not much better. I don't like how the WWE has thrown all of it's money behind a guy who left to become a sub par film actor 10 years ago. I don't really care about the outcome, but I can't really call it. The Rock will most likely retain.
