The Dark Knight Rises Review

Warning: This Review Will NOT Contain Spoilers

Well let me open with the following statement on The Dark Knight Rises; WOW. What a fantastic way to end a run on a popular series of films.
Discussing it with my fiancee on the way home we both agreed that a lot of films that suffer from over hype seem to make the desired impact, I can honestly say TDKR did not disappoint in the slightest. From the opening credits to the final scene this film was more a masterpiece rather than another run of the mill superhero picture, much like the previous two films.
The action scenes were incredible, especially the fight scenes between Batman and Bane where the sheer power of Bane was apparent as for the first time in a Batman film he is used to wipe the floor by Bane. There is the obligatory chase scene which includes not only the bat cycle but the new flying ship type thing simply called the bat.
The story picks up 8 years after the Dark Knight with Gotham celebrating Harvey Dent day. Commissioner Gordon is torn between telling the truth about Harvey and keeping the peace that has been established within  Gotham.
Casting wise I would say that Christopher Nolan has picked well with Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Equal parts arse kicker and screen siren, Hathaway is fantastic. Marion Cotillard is OK, I would say she is slightly one dimensional and doesn't seem to be too emotive with all the goings on. Tom Hardy is unbelievably great  as Bane. I must say he looks humongous in this film, as Bane does in the comics. The only down side I would say is the sometimes husky Dick Dastardly quality Hardys voice seemed to have The one person I have warmed to is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I was a little unsure when he was cast as I always see him as a comedy actor. I didn't care for him in Inception all that much, however he is actually quite good in TDKR. He plays the only seemingly brave, morally incorruptible beat cop in Gotham. Throughout there is more development of his character and by the end of the film I was convinced that he is suited for more serious roles in the future.
Overall it's hard to be negative about a film such as this. I really enjoyed the film from start to finish and I would say for any person still debating wether or not they should see the film (Lets face it there isn't many) Please go and see it at the cinema as it allows for the perfect viewing experience.
