This Monday saw the long awaited return of Children 18:3 with the release of their new album On The Run. When many people read that a band is Christian they think that they will be listening to god bothering tunes about the love of the lord, but Children 18:3 is one of many bands whom do not really even mention their faith. I was first attracted to the band Children 18:3 when I bought their self titled album on a whim in 2008.

On The Run sees the band alter their sound ever so slightly without alienating fans of their previous works. Upon listening to tracks such as What About Justice ? and Drifter the guitar sound is heavier and darker than previous works with more mature sounding vocals and messages throughout the tracks. There is still plenty for the fan looking for tracks that are reminiscent of All My Balloons and Cover Your Eyes. Songs like Why Are You Afraid Of The Dark and Moment To Moment are the most Children 18:3 like tracks. Then there is a completely different aspect to the album in the track Always On The Run which is the closest thing to a pop rock ballad on a rock album I've heard in a long while.
Overall whilst I enjoyed this album as I can see it as a logical progression in sound for a still young band this might be a difficult album to enjoy if you are just getting into the band. I thoroughly enjoyed every single song on the album from start to finish. If you are a new fan I would advise to purchase and listen to the previous two albums and then decide if you want to check this one out.
