The Used - Vulnerable Review

Ever since I heard the opening riff of The Taste Of Ink I have been a huge fan of The Used. When I heard the new about the new album I was beyond excited. Vulnerable the fifth official release and the first for Hopless Records. This album also marks the return to production duties for John Feldmann of Goldfinger. Whilst I have never really found fault with much that they do, I find Vulnerable good, great even but, Whilst Artwork was a bit of a departure in sound for the band, this feels like a step back in parts. There is the usual catchy as the common cold choruses especially on the first two singles; Hands and Faces and I Come Alive that are simply brilliant. The album falls flat in some parts, however the songs I felt a bit laboured are the additional tracks that came with the Itunes Deluxe version. There are a few positives in that The Used have worked hard to develop their sound with regards to the use of electronic beats and sounds. This is evident on songs like Shine and Now That You're Dead. Overall I find it hard to be dissapointed in a The Used album. As I have mentioned before the catchiness that the average The Used fan would expect is there. There is something on the album for the die hard fans and the new listeners alike. Well worth buying, but if you are not a huge fan buy the regular version of the album.
