It feels like an age since I last wrote a post about a WWE Live Special but, it has only been a month. A lot has happened in that time. Money In The Bank is a great event and has a habit of establishing some of the more up and coming talent. This year shouldn't be any different with a great line up in both ladder matches. There are some great additional matches on the card including two women's championship matches and both men's main championships being defended too. As always I will be talking about the matches in no particular order.
1. WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Tony Nese (C) Vs. Ariya Daivari: There has been a little bit of a shift in talent over the past few months with former champions Buddy Murphy and Cedric Alexander both leaving 205 Live. This has paved the way for not only new talent like Oney Lorcan but, for new champion Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari .This match has been built over a number of weeks and could be the match that could cement both men as two of the top talents of the overlooked division. This will be a decent enough match with both men having hybrid styles. I can't see Nese losing his first defence but, I think this will be the first of numerous matches between the two 205 Live main stays. Nese to pick up the win.
2. Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship: Daniel Bryan And Rowan (C) Vs. The Uso's: This match has been added at the last minute and will appear on the pre show. It is crazy how much a month can change things and this isn't any more apparent for Daniel Bryan. The "Planets Champion" has enlisted the help of Rowan to put a strangle hold on the Smackdown Live tag team division. The Uso's are taking advantage of the newly established wild card rule allowing them to jump between the two divisions without admitting the brand split might be close to an end. This match should be a highlight match between two of the top teams on WWE television. Bryan and Rowan for the win.
3. RAW Women's Championship: Becky Lynch (C) Vs. Lacey Evans: The first of two championship defences for "Becky Two Belts" and it is the first championship match since her arrival on the main roster for Lacey Evans. On he surface this may seem a little fast but, Evans has a lot of talent underneath the slightly grating character. This match has been building for a number of weeks and is probably my preferred of the two Women's Championship matches. This will more than likely be the first of the two matches in the running order but, could prove to be the more physical of the two matches. Evans has a lot to prove and this could be somewhat of a coming out party for the "Southern Belle" this will have a lot of back and forth but, I think, Lynch will come out with her Raw championship intact but, she may come out with an injury setting up the underdog story.
4. Steel Cage Match: The Miz Vs. Shane McMahon: I didn't think I would ever say this but, the story line between The Miz and Shane McMahon has been somewhat entertaining. Shane thrives as a heel character and this has been the case for the past couple of months, so much so that The Miz is actually likeable. Adding the steel cage is of benefit as McMahon is best when he is risking his health for the sake of getting people talking about his matches. This should be a great back and forth with some buzz worthy spots. I can't see The Miz losing two months in a row but, McMahon has a lot of aces up his sleeve that may allow him to pick up the win.
5. Roman Reigns Vs. Elias: It didn't take long but, Elias has gone from being a fan favourite back to heel in a matter of months and not before time, Elias is doing great as the McMahon's favourite bad guy and every bad guy needs a baby face in comes Roman Reigns. Reigns hasn't been in the main event since his return but, he is doing great things in his current position. This match will be full of controversy with Elias playing the part of heel perfectly. This match will see a McMahon sponsored win for Elias.
6. United States Championship: Samoa Joe (C) Vs. Rey Mysterio: Samoa Joe picked up the shock win of Wrestlemania when he choked out Mysterio in a matter of minutes. Since then there has been some weird stuff involving Mysterio's son, Dominick whom I'm guessing is probably going to sign to NXT any minute now. Joe is one of the best heel characters on WWE television and working with Mysterio has done wonders for both men. This should be a great match between two of the best with Joe picking up the win.
7. Smackdown Live Women's Championship: Becky Lynch (C) Vs. Charlotte Flair: The second match of the night for Lynch and this may prove to be her undoing. Charlotte Flair has established herself as the top heel in the women's division and plays off against the anti hero Lynch perfectly. This will be a great match although I feel like I've seen it a thousand times before and feel like there are some other talent that could have done with the spotlight more than Flair. This will be one of the numerous highlights of the night with the under dog champion Lynch coming out on top.
8. WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston (C) Vs. Kevin Owens: Kofi Kingston went down in history with his win at Wrestlemania and he is more than deserving. Right now Kingston needs the time to establish himself as a singles competitor and a champion. Kevin Owens has made a huge impact upon his return and has thrust himself into the main event picture. This may prove to be the better of the two championship matches with both men having very different styles. As much as I love Kevin Owens I would hate to see Kingston lose before he really picks up any steam. Kingston to pick up the win.
9. Universal Championship: Seth Rollins (C) Vs. AJ Styles: This is being built as a dream match and it really is. AJ Styles is really cementing himself as a locker room leader and veteran and has really found his footing in the WWE. The same can be said for Rollins who has established himself as a leader for the newer generation of superstars coming up. I would love to see Styles as the heel in this story and maybe going forward. This will be everything it is billed as and more with both men trying to establish themselves as the top guy on the red brand. I can't see Rollins lose his championship so quickly but, there is the potential for a cash in if he wins the match.
10. Women's Money In the Bank Ladder Match: This match has a lot of interesting factors at play although there are some very obvious missing competitors. Ruby Riott could have been a great addition so would Asuka or Kairi Sane or even one of the IIconics. That's not to say that the competitors involved aren't worthy. Natalya is set to make history as the only female to be in all of the Money In the Bank matches to date. Alexa Bliss has been a little under the radar since her return to action but could prove to be the dark horse in this match. I think that Dana Brooke and Ember Moon are the two competitors with the most to gain from this match and I would love to see one of these two come out with the win. Will I get that wish ? probably not I think the most likely winner is Bliss or the now partner less Bayley.
11. Men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Whilst I'm excited by this match there isn't an obvious winner in the bunch. Finn Balor has been on a decent run as of late and is the very obvious winner of the match. Drew McIntyre would also make an obvious choice as the next championship contender and probably could do with the leg up in his title aspirations. Ricochet will be the human highlight reel as always but, probably won't come be the winner. I think there is something in the outsiders like Ali and Andrade that could really make a name for themselves in this match and in their future WWE career in general. Expect some of the best high flying action that the WWE has to offer. As I said I would love to see an outsider like Ali or Andrade win the match but, I think either McIntyre or Balor will win the briefcase and it's contents.
