Welcome on and all to my preview and predictions blog for the upcoming WWE live special, Hell In A Cell. As always I urge you to leave a comment below or by following me on Twitter or Instagram.
Despite being a themed live special there seems to be a distinct lack of Hell In A Cell Matches on the card, there's only two, which seems a bit odd. One would think that both men's championships and at least one of the women's championship matches would have taken place in the cell but, alas this is not the case. There have been no matches announced for the pre show as of writing and as usual there is no Cruiserweight championship match either. As always I will be writing about the matches in no particular order.
1. Daniel Bryan And Brie Bella Vs. The Miz And Maryse: Some would argue that Daniel Bryan's return has been a bit of a damp squib but, I feel like kick starting the feud between Bryan and Miz has been best for all parties involved. This marks the return to the ring on a live special for both Bella and Maryse for a couple of years and will be a great tool to promote both reality shows. This match will be a great way of furthering a story but, will hopefully also be a great way of showing how well Bryan and Miz complement each others style. I feel we have just seen the start of this feud and think the win will go to Miz and Maryse to keep it going.
2. Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship: The New Day (C) Vs. Rusev Day: Some might say that this match is only really happening due to the unfortunate injury to Rowan last month costing the Bludgeon Brothers not only the tag team championship but, also all of the hard earned momentum they had gained. The New Day were there to pick up the pieces and started their fifth run as tag team champions. Rusev Day has been in a weird position as of late, all signs point to the team being split up. This could still happen but, it would be a shame to see arguably one of the more popular teams being forced to go their separate ways. The real X factor in this match is Andrade Almas and Zelina Vega. These two have been involved in a feud with Rusev and Lana lately and have been planting the seeds of doubt between Rusev and Aiden English. This will be a great match between some of the most under rated talent in WWE. I feel this might be the final match of Rusev Day and therefore New Day will come out with the win.
3. RAW Women's Championship: Ronda Rousey (C) Vs. Alexa Bliss: I have been proven wrong in the past couple of months when I have said I felt that it was a little too early for Ronda Rousey to be champion. Whilst she hasn't exactly set the world on fire with her character she seems to be holding her own in the ring. Alexa Bliss continues to be one of, if not the best heel character in the WWE at the moment. This match would have been great to see in the Cell but, I think the story line and outside factors involved in it will play a huge part in this match. Expect to see some great spots from both competitors with a win for Rousey.
4. Hell In A Cell: Jeff Hardy Vs. Randy Orton: On the surface this seems a little bit odd a match to have take place in the cell but, this could prove to be one of the last memories of this whole show. The feud between Orton and Hardy has really been a hard hitting, personal feud, which we have seen a lot of on Smackdown Live as of late. The one thing I am puzzled about is where Nakamura fits in all of this ? He seems to have become a little bit lost in the shuffle on Smackdown Live since he became United States champion. This should be a pretty brutal between these two veterans, with a lot of high risk spots. I'm not overly sure who will come out with the win in this one, I think Orton might with the help of Nakamura.
5. Smackdown Live Women's Championship: Charlotte Flair (C) Vs. Becky Lynch: This feud has been a long time coming and has proven to be quite interesting. It was last month at Summerslam that Becky Lynch seemingly turned heel on Charlotte Flair but, what has happened is that Lynch seems to have the fans firmly on her side. I think a heel Becky Lynch would have been a refreshing change but, I think the fans may influence a change in heart with creative and make Flair the heel as she can do this well. This will be the better of the two women's matches on the card and as much as I would love to see Lynch become champion I think Flair may come out with the win.
6. WWE Heavyweight Championship: AJ Styles (C) Vs. Samoa Joe: For the second month in a row I could make the argument that this match should really be the final match of the show but, it won't be. This feud and story line has been a very personal affair, as I mentioned before, the feuds on Smackdown Live seem to be a lot darker and geared towards an adult audience. Both men have nothing to prove at this point in their career but, have been having some of their best matches since entering the WWE. This should be the hard hitting, brutal affair that we have seen in the past between these two. I would have loved to see this match in the cell but, it really doesn't need the added factor. As much as I have loved AJs run with the championship I think we may see a major title change take place.
7. RAW Tag Team Championship: Dolph Ziggler And Drew McIntyre (C) Vs. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose: I was just as surprised to see the tandem of Ziggler and McIntyre begin but, since that day they have been gaining a lot of traction on RAW and are really running with the opportunity they have been given. Rollins and Ambrose have been given an opportunity to stop any momentum that Ziggler and McIntyre have gained in the past couple of months. This should be a great match between four of the best competitors on RAW. This should be a great hard hitting match that will be a great lead in to the main event. I can't see Ziggler and McIntyre losing at this point in their run and this might be the start to a bad night for the reformed Shield.
8. Hell In A Cell Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (C) Vs. Braun Strowman: This is a weird situation. Not only is Braun Strowman cashing in his Money In The Bank opportunity in a scheduled match but, Overnight he seems to have been moved to the top heel position on RAW after a build of a year or so to make him the top face. This match will be a refreshing change to a Universal championship match as it will last more than 5 minutes. This will be a great, hard hitting match that will more than likely involve a lot of outside interference. I can't see THE BIG DAWGGGGGGGGGGGGGG losing his championship so soon so I think Strowman may be one of a very little list of people to fail at cashing in their Money In The Bank opportunity.
