Welcome one and all to my preview and prediction blog for the "Smackdown Live" exclusive live special, "Money In the Bank". This is usually my favourite non "Big 4" live special as I'm a sucker for a ladder match. There are some notable missing names from the final card such as; American Alpha, Tye Dillinger, Aiden English and Breezango. There has not been a pre show match announced as of writing so I would think at least two of those names may be featured in the pre show. As always if you have any comments or thoughts leave them in the comment section below or by following me on social media by clicking one of the links at the right hand side of my homepage.
1. Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship: The Usos (C) Vs. The New Day: There is something strange going on in the tag division on "Smackdown Live" at the moment. From the day that "American Alpha" won the championships the tag division seems to have been all but forgotten. That being said it's not because they don't have the talent to provide the audience with good or even great matches. "The Ascension", "Breezango", and "American Alpha" are all credible teams to have a good run with the championships. Instead The New Day have been placed on the "Smackdown Live" to become the figureheads of the division and hopefully elevate the division to where it should be. This match will be a decent enough one as both teams are great and have proven themselves time and time again. Expect some fast paced action and a lot of under handed tactics. I would like to see a feud between these two teams build but, I have a funny feeling that "The New Day" may come out on top.
2. Smackdown Live Womens Championship: Naomi (C) Vs. Lana: I have no idea what is going on in the women's division right now. I keep being told that Naomi is one of the best athletes in the "WWE" at the moment, and is barely featured on "Smackdown Live". This is a shame as she has been entertaining to watch however, I feel she would have been better used as part of the first ever women's "Money In The Bank" match. Lana has arrived to a lot of pomp and circumstance on "Smackdown Live" and is being pushed far too quickly, in my opinion. This is probably going to be early on the card and will probably be forgotten about as soon as the first entrance of the "Money In The Bank" match happens. I think Naomi will retain and Lana will maybe prove herself.
3. Womens Money In the Bank Match: Charlotte Flair Vs. Becky Lynch Vs. Natalya Vs. Tamina Vs. Carmella: This is historic and will do nothing but prove how great the women's division is in not only "Smackdown Live" but, the entire "WWE" as a whole. There has to be the discussion as to who would benefit from being the holder of the most sought out briefcase in the wrestling. I personally don't think Charlotte or Becky would benefit from holding the case, not because I don't think either of them don't deserve it but, simply because it wouldn't lift their profile. I think either Natalya or Carmella would be the most likely winners of this match. This would boost their profile and push them to the forefront.
4. WWE Championship: Jinder Mahal (C) Vs. Randy Orton: Nobody was as surprised as I was when Jinder Mahal won the "WWE" Championship from Randy Orton last month at "Backlash". Whatever the reason is that the "WWE" has given Mahal the championship he really has run with it. He has gone from being a forgettable mid card guy to one of the top "heels" on the "Smackdown Live" roster. Randy Orton seems to be doing nothing but going through the motions just now. This will be a strange one and I would expect that Mahal would retain and, depending on where this match is placed on the card, he may have another match that night.
5. Money In The Bank Match: Kevin Owens Vs. Dolph Ziggler Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Baron Corbin Vs. Sami Zayn Vs. AJ Styles: This has to be one of the most anticipated matches on "Smackdown Live" since the brand split last year. This is a fantastic mix of talent that shows that the "Blue Brand" can survive just fine without "Big Match John". The same questions I asked of the women's match needs to be asked: Who benefits most from having the briefcase ? There could be an argument for every person in this match but, think logically for a minute. Both Styles and Owens have been champions in the past and would theoretically be in the championship picture regardless of winning the match. Nakamura and Ziggler have been in a feud recently and adding the case could do good things for an ongoing feud if that was what was planned. the same goes for Zayn and Corbin, adding the case could make for an exciting turn in their feud. I really can't pick a decisive winner but, I think either Corbin or Nakamura could be the likely winners.
