Welcome one and all to my preview and prediction blog for this coming Sundays WWE live special, Payback. As always if you have any opinion on any of the matches or just want to tell me I'm wrong you can leave a comment at the bottom of the page or follow me on social media by clicking one of the links on my home page.
This is a strange live special as it features both superstars from RAW and Smackdown Live despite the fact it is being advertised as a RAW exclusive show. With that being said there are some great matches on the card that I am really looking forward to.
Preshow: Gallows And Anderson Vs. Enzo and Big Cass: This match is, for once, a match. On the preshow that is worthy of being on the main card. Before the Shake Up I really thought one of these teams might end up on Smackdown Live, Gallows And Anderson would have been a great addition to a slightly floundering tag team division. These two teams have been working with each other for 6 months or so now and I never get bored of seeing them in the ring together. I think this match will have Enzo and Big Cass win the match by hook or crook.
1. WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Nevillle (C) Vs. Austin Aries: This has been a fantastic feud between two of the best on 205 Live. These two had a fantastic match at Wrestlemania last month and have been great additions to the Cruiserweight Division. Both men have similar styles so expect a lot of hard hits and submissions. There is also the potential X Factor of TJ Perkins to get involved and costing Aries the match as I think Perkins double cross of Neville won't happen for a little while yet. Whilst I could watch these two over and over again but, I think this match may be the last for a while. If Neville wins I could see him enter into a feud with TJ Perkins or even Tony Nese. If Aries wins I could also see a feud with TJ Perkins on the horizon.
2.WWE RAW Tag Team Championship: The Hardy Boyz (C) Vs. Cesaro and Sheamus: If you had told me this time last year that not only would the Hardy Boyz would be back in the WWE but, they would be Tag Team champions I would have probably called you a liar. The fact that all of this is true makes my teenage self extremely happy. The Hardyz have done incredibly well on rebuilding their tattered image over the past few years and the fact they are back in the WWE has been well received. Cesaro and Sheamus have become one hell of a team and I feel they could have maybe done with a longer run with the championships. The build for this match has been done well, with a competitive rivalry being shown. I would be surprised, if the rumours are true, that a return of the Broken gimmick might begin at the culmination of this match. I could see a title change happening.
3.Seth Rollins Vs. Samoa Joe: This is the match I wish we could have seen at Wrestlemania. Whilst there was nothing wrong with the Rollins Vs. Triple H match I feel it was there to simply sell a storyline. I would have much rather seen Joe at Wrestlemania and the final face off between Rollins and Triple H at Summerslam or some other show. I think this match might steal the show. I have been waiting for this match ever since Joe came up from NXT and really think this could lead to one of these two getting a shot at the Universal Championship. Expect some form of foul play lead to a Joe win.
4.WWE RAW Womens Championship: Bayley (C) Vs. Alexa Bliss: I think that the choice to move Charlotte to Smackdown Live has been a blessing for the RAW womens division. It allows for a lot more matches and varieties of matches with different competitors rather than the 3 key players being the focal point. Bayley, in my opinion, has been a mediocre champion at best. This is through no fault of her own it is simply due to the tired character she has been portraying for what feels like forever. Alexa on the other hand has taken the heel role and ran with it. I think this will be a fast paced affair with a lot of Bayley being vulnerable. I think this match will end with a heel turn for Sasha costing Bayley her gold.
5.WWE US Championship: Kevin Owens (C) Vs. Chris Jericho: This looks like it will be the final match for these two for a while as Jericho will be otherwise engaged for a few months touring with Fozzy. I have really enjoyed this mammoth story of friendship turned sour. Owens has out heeled the heel in this one. Owens has become one of, in my opinion, the best heels in recent years and will hopefully continue to rise to the very top of the WWE; hopefully propelling the US Championship in the process. I think that Owens will win this one and become one of the top players on Smackdown Live but, not before having what could be a match of the year with Jericho, bringing an end to his best run since the start of the millennium.
6.Roman Reigns Vs. Braun Strowman: I really struggle to care about either of these two but, this has been a pretty entertaining feud. Braun has been pushed as the next monster, perhaps pushing him into a championship match with Lesnar. I think this might be an entertaining prospect and probably another boxing style quick knockout match but, for now Strowman has Reigns to take care of. This match should be a brutal affair and I have a funny feeling we could see Reigns come out on top.
7.Bray Wyatt Vs. Randy Orton: This is the House Of Horrors match that nobody has any clue about. I think that these two have had a great feud and it is a real shame that it has come to an end too soon. I'm really not too sure what is going to happen but, expect a weird and wonderful, highly dramatic match that could end up being one of the best gimmick matches in recent times. I expect Bray Wyatt to win this one and establish himself as one of the top heels in the company.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the show.
