Wrestlemania 33 Previews And Predictions

Welcome one and all to my "Wrestlemania 33" preview and prediction blog. As always I urge you all to let me know what you think by commenting below or by following me on social media. I am going to go through each match one by one but, there is no particular order to the matches I will be talking about. Before I begin I will also say there is 6 days until Wrestlemania so things may change and matches or stipulations may be added on "RAW" and "Smackdown Live" this week. I am still surprised that a Samoa Joe Vs Sami Zayn match hasn't been added or even a Smackdown Tag Team Championship match. I'm also a little bit surprised that the longest running tag team champions and biggest merch sellers: The New Day are nothing more than the hosts of the event. With that being said let's get this started.

1. Andre "The Giant" Battle Royal: Considering this match is in its 4th year I am still shocked that this isn't being used as a launching pad for someone on the cusp of the main event. Granted last year Baron Corbin won the battle royal last year and has been on a hell of a run but, apart from that nothing has really come of people winning it. This year there haven't been many names added to the participant list and I really don't expect this match to make it on to the main card. I would like to see some surprise entrants or legends in this match to make it slightly more bareable. Now with Sami Zayn, Braun Strowman and Big Show being added this match might be a little bit more exciting.

2. WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Neville (C) Vs. Austin Aries: If you haven't been watching "205 Live" where have you been ? Whilst it may not be "The most exciting hour on TV" as promoted, it is highly entertaining and allows for smaller guys that may not have had an opportunity before. Neville has been destroying the competition since his return from injury which saw him miss an opportunity at "Wrestlemania" last year. I love the new "Heel" Neville. This character turn has allowed him to become more than a happy go lucky, superhero type, adding more depth and an intesity to a character that was slightly dull. Austin Aries is finally where he belongs, I've admired his matches for years but, always felt he deserved to be in a better place. Now he is on "205 Live" and I have to say that this is probably the best fit for him. I think this will be one hell of a match, hopefully on the main event, as both have a similar style in the ring. I think this may see Neville retain maybe with some outside interference.

3. Smackdown Live Womens Championship: Alexa Bliss (C) Vs. Entire Womens Roster: This is a really odd idea in order to promote the "Smackdown Live" womens division. I think that all of the women within the division deserve the spotlight but, this match seems to look back at the god awful battle royal style matches that took place at "Wrestlemania" when the "WWE" didn't have a clue what they were doing with the "Divas" division. This is neither entertaining or fair to the "Smackdown Live" division. Alexa has been an OK champion, coming into her own whilst not really showing what she may be capable of. I doubt Asuka will be debuting at this event as it seems like an anti climax for her, perhaps as a last minute surprise after a winner emerges; coming down the aisle to challenge for the championship. I think Naomi will more than likely return and win infront of her home town crowd, she is more than deserving of that and it would be a great "Wrestlemania" moment. Expect great performances from all.

4. RAW Tag Team Championship Ladder Match: Gallows And Anderson (C) Vs. Enzo And Big Cass Vs. Cesaro And Sheamus: There is one thing the "WWE" is really not doing well just now and that is; tag team wrestling. I'm finding myself bored with a lot of the tag teams on both "RAW" and "Smackdown Live" at the minute. Whilst this match will be good enough, it really just doesn't get me too excited. Perhaps now that it is a ladder match it may be a little better to watch. All three teams should make this match exciting and hard hitting enough to hold my attention for a little while. I don't see Gallows and Anderson losing the championship just now, as much as I would love to see Enzo and Big Cass with the "RAW" tag team championship, I just don't see it.

John Cena And Nikki Bella Vs. The Miz And Maryse: This match has to be one of the most low key matches for John Cena in his "Wrestlemania" career and that's not taking anything away from everyone else in the match. If you have been watching "Talking Smack", and if you haven't why not ?, this match has been set up incredibly well with both John Cena and The Miz doing some of their best on mic work in a long time. This is largely going to be about the relationships and spin off reality shows but, I'm sure it will be entertaining enough. I think that Cena and Nikki will come out on top but, The Miz will probably put an exclimation point on at the end.

AJ Styles Vs. Shane McMahon: This is one of the stranger matches on the entire card. Both have very different styles, pardon the pun, and on paper shouldn't really mesh too well. AJ has been waiting a little ever since he lost his title and really wouldn't have fit too well into the main event match. Many people are saying that this may end up like the now infamous Kurt Angle Vs. Shane McMahon match at "King Of The Ring" in 2003. The build up has been pretty incredible, much like most of "Smackdown Live" has been since the brand split. Expect a lot of crazy high spots and hard hitting moves. I don't see Shane winning the match but, whatever happens I'm sure the crowd will eat it up. I do think that it may be the last night that AJ is part of the "Smackdown Live" roster which, is a shame.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dean Ambrose Vs. Baron Corbin: This is one of the more under rated matches on the entire card. I must admit, I wasn't the biggest fans of Baron Corbin when he came to NXT or even when he came to the main event. Ever since the brand split Baron Corbin has really taken full advantage of his surroundings, having some incredible matches against high profile opponents. Dean Ambrose on the other hand is kind of floating through just now, which is not really his fault as the Intercontinental Championship has been forgotten about for the most part. I would be happy enough with Baron Corbin winning this match and further proving how great he actually is.

WWE US Championship: Chris Jericho Vs. Kevin Owens: It's a shame that this match isn't for the WWE Universal Championship. That would have been a far more entertaining match than the one offered at the top of the card. Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho have been incredibly entertaining over the past year or so, really complimenting each other and being one of the most entertaining parts of "RAW" as a whole. Now that they have been separated as a team I am really looking forward to seeing how well they work as opponents. The build up for this match has been fantastic, especially keeping Chris Jericho off of TV since the brutal attack by Owens. I'm glad that this match is just a one on one contest and doesn't have a gimmick added to it as both men can tell a story without any ladders, weapons or anything else. I think Owens may come out on top in this one, especially if the Universal Championship is going to be held by a part time superstar for the next year. Owens may finally bring a bit of spotlight to the often forgotten championship.

Seth Rollins Vs. Triple H (Non Sactioned Match): This one has been a little bit of a victim of circumstances. Rollins unplanned injury really scuppered any real build up or physical altercation that may have added to this match. Rollins has largely absent from TV until the last couple of weeks and the build up has been a little thrown together. With that being said I still think this will be an incredibly physical match between two of the best. The fan in me would love to see Finn Balor return and pull a double cross on either Seth Rollins or Triple H, thus costing either man the win. The fact that this is a unsanctioned match allows this to be one of those matches that are talked about for years to come. I wouldn't be surprised if Rollins came out on top with the help of Balor to counter the presence of Samoa Joe in Triple Hs corner.

The Undertaker Vs. Roman Reigns: This is one of those matches I'm just not excited about. Roman Reigns, whilst not as terrible as everyone makes him, really hasn't found his character sweet spot. I'm not going to be like the thousands that say turn him "Heel" but, the creative team need to decide whether or not Roman is going to be a good guy or a bad guy not just a guy. Reigns really has all the tools to be one of the best he's just been a victim of the "Cena Syndrome". By that I mean he is being shoved down peoples throats, whether we like it or not. Undertaker is really suffering every year that goes by, although I have to admit last year he performed a lot better than in previous years. There is a rumour that this year may be one of, if not, the last year we may see Undertaker in a WWE ring. If that's the case I would be sad to see a end of an era but, would be glad to see Taker finally laid to rest. I see this match going one of to ways. 1. Roman wins and Taker retires on "RAW" or 2. Taker wins and has one last match against Cena next year after being inducted into the "Hall Of Fame".

RAW Womens Championship Match: Bayley (C) Vs. Charlotte Vs. Sasha Banks Vs. Nia Jax: This match is a bit of a mess. I would have been happy enough to see Bayley Vs. Charlotte or even a triple threat with added Sasha Banks. To add Nia Jax with a couple of weeks to go seems a little strange and also a little desperate of creative to make Nia relevant again after doing very little but squash local talent for months. With that being said I think this match will be one of those landmark moments for womens wrestling. Expect to see this match really high up the card maybe even second to last. WWE have been incredibley lucky in the past couple of years with the sheer wealth of talent in the womens division. Both "RAW" and "Smackdown Live" have both had enough women to really forge strong divisions despite the "marquee" talent of the "Womens Revolution" being placed on "RAW" and this match will be a great showcase in the same respect the triple threat match was last year. I expect a lot of near falls and high drama, perhaps even seeing Sasha turning on Bayley. I also expect Dana Brooke to cost Charlotte the match in the end perhaps aligning herself with either Nia or Sasha. This one will steal the show.

WWE World Championship: Bray Wyatt (C) Vs. Randy Orton: It's still amazing to think that "Smackdown Live" is still considered the "B" brand despite drawing better numbers in the ratings since the "Brand Split" as well as consistently having great live specials with noticeably less talent than "RAW". Bray Wyatt is more than deserving to be the World Champion as he has time and time again had great matches, whether it is on "Smackdown Live" or on a live special he always seems to bring an intense level of physicality to back up his entertaining mic skills. The build up for this match has been nothing short of mesmerising. The fact that the audience has seen Randy burn down the home of Wyatt as well as the remains of Sister Abigail only for Wyatt to bathe in the remains in a PG era WWE is baffling. This storyline is on the level of The Undertaker and his ministry during the "Attitude Era". Despite this being the stronger of the two championship matches this, in my opinion, won't be the final match. I think this will be one for the ages and will do nothing but steal the show for "Brand Blue". I would love to see Erik Roman back to help Wyatt and ultimately lead to Wyatt leaving "Wrestlemania" as champion.

WWE Universal Championship: Goldberg (C) Vs. Brock Lesnar: I just can't be positive about this. I'm sorry I just can't see this match being anything but a car crash match with little or no merit. The fact that creative see this match as a "huge box office draw" is insane. I could care less about either man or how this match goes. Hopefully it'll be over and done with quickly and not sour the rest of the event.

Overall probably one of the better "Wrestlemania" cards. Whilst I do expect to see a few surprises throughout the show I always build up expectation too high. I really hope you all enjoy the show and as always if you have anything to add or want to tell me I'm wrong leave a comment below or follow me on social media.

You have to admit that Goldberg has truly been thankful for the position he is in, thanking fans and the business all the time.

This match builds the belt to be a special and prestigious title by having these two fight for it. I like Brock, always have, and he can elevate the title to something special so whoever wins it after gets the rub (probably Reigns).

Wrestlemania 31, when Seth cashed in the MITB, that sort of moment can happen again. The universal title really hasn't had the build it deserves, Bálor relinquishing after summerslam and the next night HHH handing Owens the belt.

Aside from this match, mania looks decent, I think Owens n Jericho, Styles n Shane and Aries n Neville to be matches that standout.

P.S the size of the ramp to the ring is massive!

    1. I fully appreciate Goldberg is thankful etc but, I feel the work that Kevin Owens had put in he should have been in the main event. This is probably one of the most risky main events as neither have really had long matches. Overall it's one of the best cards in a long while. Think because it's one of the best rosters they've had for a while. Brand split was the best thing and has really elevated a lot of people.

Owens and AJ have carried the company for most of the past year and they are left with scraps. It is a good roster and a vast improvement over 32 but really they could have done better (thinking Zayn, Balor, Joe).
