WWE Roadblock: End Of The Line Preview And Predictions

Hello and welcome to my preview for the final WWE live special of the year, Roadblock:End Of The Line. This has been a bit of a landmark year for not only the WWE Network but, also the WWE as a whole. We've had a brand split, Cruiserweight classic and subsequent standalone Cruiserweight TV show and a huge announcement that there will be a UK division starting with a two day tournament in January that will see some of the best talent from the UK and talent. I know there are a lot of detractors and people that are saying the WWE is ruining the indie scene around the world, but I am really excited to see what the WWE do with this idea and other future events that may happen. I predict Pete Dunne will win the whole thing. Let's get on with the task at hand.

1. Big Cass Vs. Rusev: Its a real shame that this match has been relegated to the kick off show as I think the feud between Rusev and Big Cass and Enzo has been built pretty well. The storyline has been slightly reminiscent of the later Attitude era storylines where they tread the PG line closely. I'm glad Cass is getting a bit of a run to show off how good he actually is as a big guy and if the rumours are true he may be getting a bigger push in the future. Rusev is solid as always, I do however feel his character is getting a bit one dimensional know and would like to see more than just a horrible foreigner gimmick being played out. I expect this match to be a pretty good, hard hitting match up and fully expect Cass to win with an accidental assist to Lana.

2. Sami Zayn Vs. Braun Strowman: This is a strange match that has allowed Zayn to show off more than his loveable underdog side. Zayn is incredible not only in the rain but, on the mic too. The promo he cut with Mick Foley a few weeks ago was fantastic and really showed why he may be the future main event star that has been teased for a while now. Braun Strowman has been tolerable at best and thats not his fault. WWE writers have stuck him into a one dimensional big monster role that was fine for the 90s but, can become incredibley dull if continually done. Perhaps putting Strowman into a feud with Big Show or Mark Henry and show him as a true giant would have been better than replicating Baron Corbins Smackdown storyline. I would like to see an even match however, I don't expect to see anything more than a little offence for Zayn and him to lose before heading over to Smackdown.

3. WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Rich Swann (C) Vs. TJ Perkins Vs. THE Brian Kendrick: The Cruiserweight division has been grossly under utilised since being brought to RAW a few months back but, with 205 Live being used as a tool to tell the story's that might not be able to be told on RAW. This has been quite a hastily set up storyline however, I have really enjoyed seeing it unfold. TJP is doing a great job as the tweener between the Swann and Kendrick but, I don't see him being turned heel anytime soon as his character is more suited as the cool face with loads of geek merch to sell. Kendrick is a fantastic heel, proving it over and over again that WWE really made a mistake releasing him in the first place. Swann is a really likeable character but, I worry he may become a little stale over time if his plucky happy guy gimmick isnt tweaked a little. I never really know where title matches are going these days but, I would like to see TJP regain the title in this match that may steal the show.

4. WWE Tag Team Championship: The New Day (C) Vs. Cesaro and Sheamus: I don't think anyone could have predicted how massive The New Day would have become when they began their now historic reign as Tag Team Champions. They have been proof that with a little perseverance and self belief that anyone has the power to change their career trajectory. Cesaro and Sheamus have been as equally entertaining in the past couple of months proving to the WWE brass what a lot of fans already knew; they are destined to be at the top. This should be a highly entertaining affair with some great spots. I do think that New Day will retain right through to Wrestlemania where their run will come to an end. If I'm wrong and Cesaro and Sheamus win it will be a shame but, may lead to an exciting new chapter in a very strong tag division.

5. Seth Rollins Vs. Chris Jericho: This match is a Wrestlemania level match that isn't even close to the top of the card. Chris Jericho is going through another career resurgence and it is well deserved. He is still as good as he was when he entered the WWE 17 years ago. Rollins should be, in my opinion, in the title match alongside Reigns and Owens however, the RAW main event picture is quite full almost over flowing and should really be utilising the US title the way the IC title is being used on Smackdown. This feud could have done with the US title being involved which would have made it more of a high stakes match. This will be an interesting back and forth match with Rollins more than likely going to pick up the win maybe due to an Owens interference.

6. WWE Universal Championship: Kevin Owens (C) Vs. Roman Reigns: I highly doubt that this match will top of the card however, I do think this match will be a match of the year candidate. Owens has been an incredible champion considering he was hastily placed into the role due to Finn Balors injury. Roman Reigns has been dealt a bad card in the sense that he is being forceably pushed to be a top face like Cena when he should be used more like an anti hero character. Despite what a lot of people say he isn't a terrible worker his character simply needs tweaked. This should be entertaining enough and I would fully expect Owens to retain due to a long con being played on us all with he and Jericho being stronger than ever.

7. WWE Womens Championship: Sasha Banks (C) Vs. Charlotte 30 minute Iron Man Match: This match will, in my opinion, deservedly be the main event of the night. I will say one thing though; whilst I have enjoyed this feud I hope this is the final match, at least for a while, between the two. The womens division has come on leaps and bounds in the past 3 years with both RAW and Smackdown Live housing some of the best womens talent the WWE may have ever had. I hope that this match will be every bit as good as expected. The matches between these two have been unpredictable to say the least with more title changes happening in one year than I can ever remember happening before. After this I would like to think that Bayley is in line for a shot setting up a triple threat match at Wrestlemania. The RAW division is really missing Paige as she would have been a welcome addition to this feud. I think Sasha may come out on top and end Charlottes winning streak on WWE live specials .

  1. Brilliant blog again Glenny, my two pennies worth -

I'd love to see the revival interfere or somehow be included in the tag match, they for me are the best tag team in WWE and are due a step up soon (I know they are in other NXT storylines though).

I hope Sasha retains nobody needs another Charlotte Vs Banks match although it has been an epic feud, they need to feed in Bayley soon, I assume build for a Mania win, Paige and Nia Jax could be used well too in the coming months.

I think they should have had Reigns defend and lose or forfeit his US title on Raw weeks ago, I think Jericho with a US belt would have added to the JeriKO buddy story line and my god he deserves it, drink it in maaaaaaan!

On a side note I think Trips will handle the UK Belt quite well if left to his own devices, he's done great with the organic growth of NXT, he's good at promoting indy talent, cos he is the game and he is that damm good.

  2. Yeah I agree about the woman's feud, nobody needs to see it again. I liken them to Dolph vs Miz where they've done it to death. Think Nia Jax was brought up way too early which is a shame. I never really thought of The Revival but, they would be a welcome addition. The UK Championship will be ace and the fact the 1st two nights are sold out proves how much people want it. I'm still worried for the cruiserweights, rumour is Vinnie Mac is handling all of 205 Live just now
