Today's lazy Sunday film is probably the most family friendly Sunday film yet. The film I am going to talk about is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This film was released in 1990 and was based on the comic book and cartoon series of the same name. When I was growing up I was a huge fan of both the cartoons and film series. I watched these series of 3 films a lot over the years, but hadn't seen any of them in years. At a car boot sale this morning I noticed the first of the series on DVD for a bargain of £1. As soon as the credits rolled I fell in love with the film all over again. The plot is a quite entertaining one with the Foot clan lead by Master Shredder recruiting disaffected youth to do his bidding. The Turtles, with the help of April O'Neil and Casey Jones, fight to restore order to New York city. The cast features some fantastic actors such as Corey Feldman voicing Donatello, Elias Koteas (Shutter Island, The Fourth Kind) as Casey Jones and a young Sam Rockwell as the leader of the young Foot soldiers. Over all this is a fantastic film that can be enjoyed by every generation and was a brilliant watch for two 20 somethings reminiscing of the past. Check out the trailer below:
